Code of Conduct

In general, North Shore Marine Training and staff

• are committed to the highest ethical standards; and

• accept and value their duty to provide advice which is objective, independent, apolitical and impartial; and

• show respect towards all persons, including employees, clients and the general public; and

• acknowledge the primacy of the North Shore Marine Training’s interest and undertake that any conflict-of-interest issue will be resolved or appropriately managed in favour of North Shore Marine Training’s interest, and the BoatSafe program / Marine Safety Queensland’s interest; and

• are committed to honest, fair and respectful engagement with the community.

Ethical Standards

All persons engaged by North Shore Marine Training, must not intimidate, abuse, insult, harass or otherwise cause distress to any client or former client.

North Shore Marine Training and all persons engaged by the North Shore Marine Training, must avoid any conflict of interest between personal interests and obligations under the authority.

North Shore Marine Training and / or staff must not recruit nor seek to recruit departmental staff for their operation in any capacity.

North Shore Marine Training, and all persons engaged by North Shore Marine Training, must not engage in conduct that brings the BoatSafe scheme, another BTO or the department into disrepute.

North Shore Marine Training and all persons engaged by North Shore Marine Training shall not publish defamatory matter about another BTO, BTP or departmental employee as defined by the Defamation Act 2005 (Queensland) without a lawful defence as set out in that Act.

Anti-Discrimination

North Shore Marine Training does not tolerate nor does it condone any form of unlawful discrimination or harassment by North Shore Marine Training staff or licence candidate, employee or prospective employee based on their age, gender, nationality, sexuality, disability, pregnancy, religious beliefs, or ethnic background.
